  • Date: 10/03/2021 to 31/05/2021.
  • Scope: Women Empowerment
  • Partner(s): British Council Egypt and Chatham House
  • Brief: The working woman during covid-19: struggles and triumphs’ is a collaboration between MAC for Social Development and Chatham House UK. It aims to shed the light on the struggles and triumphs of women working through Covid-19 and empowering emerging women working through giving leadership and entrepreneurial skills and opportunities to make their mark on the world. We believe that Expanding (self) employment and creating livelihood opportunities for women, through productive work and income generating activities, are the most effective ways to alleviate poverty and promote female economic empowerment.

A series of webinars and training sessions were held, with the aim to work towards enhancing ability, mobility, visibility and connectivity of women/girls into the market.

The training sessions and webinars were followed by the mentorship programme which is practical phase of the project where participants were divided into groups and assigned a mentor to guide them through the implementation journey of the training sessions.

The final phase was the conference day and the closing, the conference was divided into 3 parts:

  • Part one: the viewing of a short documentary portraying success stories of women establishments in Egypt
  • Part two: Keynote speakers and discussion
  • Part three: team presentations and awards for winning project
